In this video, our patient Rick D. shares his experience during his recovery from a severe shoulder injury. Little did he know when he started, he was going to experience a complete physical and emotional makeover.
"It's been almost 2 years since we met you and our lives changed. I'm so thankful the Lord led us to you! In 2010, the doctors restricted my husband from work, the only explanation they could give for his immense back pain was he exacerbated his old back injury and since he previously had 3 surgeries (a laminectomy, a discectomy, and a fusion) he was told there wasn't any medical procedure that could be done to relieve his pain. As the years progressed and the pain medication increased, I watched him deteriorate to a state of barely existing. He was unable to hold a conversation as he would fall asleep during it, he lost all mobility and needed a walker to help get around the house (a wheelchair would've been better but he couldn't sit because the pain radiated down his legs).
In 2013, at the age of only 47, he was prescribed a hospital bed which brought with it extra challenges and discouragement. Obviously, by this time, he had given up every activity & the only time he left the house was to go to the doctor once a month. Everyday living had to be altered; he lost his independence and had to depend on my for everything, even dressing.
As the result of a referral from my own personal chiropractor, we came to see you. Having your facility in a sports complex started us out on a great path mentally, it wasn't a sterile, cold environment. I'm sure you remember that first visit, as he was unable to sit or lay on the table so you made an accommodation for him where he was bale to stand for the laser treatment. As we left your office, a glimmer of hope followed and he actually felt a difference. We followed your recommended plan of laster treatments 3 times per week and I saw his quality of life return. He became less dependent on me and was able to move about on his own, he was even able to get rid of the hospital bed. What a day that was! As time progressed, he was able to have adjustments which then led to the exercise training. He was able to start driving again and he regained a sense of self-worth. His progress surprised his pain management doctor and they were able to dramatically reduce his pain medication.
It's been a long, hard journey but he now has a quality of life and is able to manage his pain. We are so thankful."
"I first came to see Dr. Kaufman after I had injured myself during an obstacle course race. I had fallen, landing on my back, and was in really bad pain. I honestly wondered if I would be able to keep up with my activities because of the fall. It took several weeks of treatment, but between laser therapy and some slight manipulation, Dr. Kaufman had me back in race shape. It was during one of those visits that we had a conversation about Crohn’s Disease and how my symptoms had been flaring. After an in-depth discussion, he asked if I had tried a gluten free diet. He explained how simple it was to test it out, so I gave it a try. He also discussed how Micronutrient testing might benefit me, and I decided to have it done. A year later, I am still gluten free, I am incorporating the nutrients in which I showed a deficiency, and my symptoms have steadily decreased. My energy level is higher, and I am able to keep up with the activities I love. When I injured my rotator cuff a few months ago, I knew immediately that I needed to see Dr. Kaufman. Again, he has helped me recover from an injury I thought might keep me down. Showing me how to strengthen the area with small exercises, using laser therapy, taping my shoulder for proper healing, he does it all! Seeing how much he cares about his patients and their progress has made me a patient for life. Any time I have an issue, he finds a way to help me solve it. I have the utmost confidence in his abilities. He is professional, he respects your time, appointments are quick and meaningful, and he is extremely knowledgeable about how to heal the body. I am grateful to have found such a wonderful doctor who has helped me immensely!"

"Over the years we've had quite a few over-training injuries between us! From running to stay fit and training for triathlon at the age group World Championship level (Rick), we've put a lot of stress on our bodies. As a result we've had to rely on a number of sports therapists in our time and Dr Ken Kaufman is one of the best! Not only do his treatments work but it's like seeing three therapists at once.
He's able to apply a number of modalities such as chiropractic adjustments, ART and Laser therapy in a single treatment session. Besides being an efficient use of time, the key benefit is much faster recovery. We can't recommend him highly enough!"
